It was just a few months ago when many of us were mourning the end of one of our favorite Freeform series, Pretty Little Liars and looking for other shows to watch to fill that hole in our heart. While some felt that seven seasons of PLL was MORE than enough — others found themselves keeping their fingers crossed for more.
And it looks like Freeform has answered their prayers. The new show, called The Perfectionists (based on a Sara Shepard book, as well), has been in talks since 2014, but creators including Marlene King were looking for a way to naturally weave it into the PLL universe already established on Freeform.
While we don’t have any word if the original four liars — Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell or Troian Bellisario will be back and better than ever, we do know that Sasha Pieterse (AKA Alison DiLaurentis), who is currently a contestent on this season’s Dancing with the Stars, and Janel Parrish (AKA Mona Vanderwaal) will return for the spinoff show.
According to Freeform, “Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.” HMMM — sounds familiar — but is that necessarily a bad thing? Afterall, Pretty Little Liars was a massive hit.
PLL‘s last spinoff, Ravenswood wasn’t exactly a hit and was canceled after just one season (probably because everyone just wanted Haleb restored to their former glory), so let’s just hope this spinoff doesn’t suffer from a similar fate!
Can’t wait to see who else signs on for The Perfectionists! Any predictions? Let us know in the comments below!
