[UPDATE: Ashley Benson claimed her Instagram was hacked on an IG Story and the comments to Cara Delevingne’s photo have been deleted]
After months of speculation about whether or not they were dating, Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson appears to have confirmed her relationship with Cara Delevingne with two telling comments on the model’s Instagram page. The pair has been attending events together at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada – and while they haven’t been showing much PDA, these flirtatious comments are all the proof we need that something is going on between them.
On Monday, September 10, after the Suicide Squad actress posted a photo of herself on IG, Ashley wanted to make one thing very clear: Cara is hers. She took to the comments section to declare, “Mine.” She then followed up her initial post with another comment: “I can see your (two sushi emojis)” and according to Urban Dictionary.com, sushi emojis have a pretty dirty connotation.
We’re still waiting on that couple pic, but these comments are as close as it gets to IG-official. This isn’t the first time they’ve hinted that they’re more than just friends, though. Ashley and Cara reportedly met on the set of their upcoming film, Her Smell, and have been photographed together multiple times in the past few months, leading many fans to believe that they’re involved romantically.
They first sparked dating rumors in early May when they were seen leaving a Lauryn Hill concert together. Later that month, they were spotted holding hands after hitting up a bowling alley in New York City. They were also spotted getting handsy in Los Angeles while paying for a parking meter and then also celebrated Cara’s 26th birthday together. But, the rumor mill really went into overdrive when they were photographed sharing a kiss at London’s Heathrow airport in August. Now, they’re taking their romance over to IG, but don’t expect to see these two to show off too much PDA.
In August, Ashley explained to People why she chooses to keep her relationships private. “I think it’s the best way in any relationship. I’ve always been very private about them, and I think it’s just better,” she shared. “I mean it’s hard, I don’t know, you kind of can’t get away from that if you’re in the public eye. I just kinda try to keep myself as private as possible.”
Very fair! Celebrity couples these days are one of two things: either they LOVE to show off their love and don’t care who sees it (AKA #Pariana) or there are those like Riverdale‘s Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart who like to keep their romance as far away from the public eye as possible. It seems like Ashley is the latter, but her comments tell another story.
Although Cara and Ashley haven’t publicly addressed their relationship yet, here’s to hoping that these flirty IG exchanges keep on coming! We totally ship it.
