The Riverdale boys daddies are coming to a theater near you! Cole Sprouse and K.J. Apa, who play Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones on the CW show, both just landed big upcoming movie roles. Although it’s not for the same movie (sad), that just means we’ll get to watch two! Cole is currently in negotiations to star in the romance-drama Five Feet Apart and K.J. will lead the romantic comedy The Last Summer.

According to Variety, K.J.’s The Last Summer is about “high school grads whose lives intersect in Chicago during the summer before they enter college.” So far, all we really know is that K.J. will play the character Griffin and that production is set to get underway in late April.

This will be K.J.’s second film because he also starred in A Dog’s Purpose alongside Britt Robertson last year. Since then he’s found a lot of success with Riverdale – and this is only just the beginning of what we’re sure will be a long and prosperous career. The film’s producer Mike Karz is very happy to have the actor on board. We all know how devoted Riverdale fans are — meaning the theater will be packed once the movie premieres!

“K.J. is one of today’s most talented and sought-after young stars both here and abroad, and we are excited to announce he will lead our ensemble cast,” Mike said in a statement.

As for Cole, his new movie role will be the first of his adult career! It will also be one of the first films he’s done without his brother Dylan Sprouse. But get your tissue box ready because it’s expected to be a tear-jerker, with many comparing it to The Fault in Our Stars.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Five Feet Apart script “centers on two young people who meet and fall in love while being treated for their illnesses, knowing that they are both living on borrowed time. The story is described as being uplifting and about the people who help make every moment count as well as the transcendent power of love.”

Are they trying to kill us? Cole is expected to play one half of this tragic, star-crossed couple, with the female lead yet to be cast. We can’t wait to see who’s picked to play Cole’s character’s better half. And yes, we’re crying already. Unlike The Fault in Our Stars, Five Feet Apart isn’t based on an existing book, which means we still have no idea how things are going to end up. Perhaps with a miracle cure? That’s likely wishful thinking.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed because we really don’t think we can handle a movie where our beloved Cole Sprouse dies. Luckily, we don’t have to worry about anything happening to K.J. since his movie is a romantic comedy! No tears there – just laughs… hopefully.
